Local and international buyers are already said to be lining up to acquire Isandlwana Lodge, one of KwaZulu-Natal\u2019s storied and strategically positioned hospitality properties, located in the province\u2019s historic battlefields area.<\/p>\n
The lodge has been put up for auction as its founding owner is set to retire. The auction will take place later this month.<\/p>\n

Situated on the slopes overlooking the Isandlwana battlefield, the lodge offers unobstructed views of the site of a significant battle of the Anglo-Zulu War. The Battle of Isandlwana remains a consequential military engagement in southern African history.<\/p>\n
Today, the battlefields area draws historians, military scholars and travellers from across the world and ranks among the most visited heritage corridors in sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n

Notable guests since the lodge opened its doors in 1999 include the late AmaZulu monarch King Zwelithini, former US President Jimmy Carter, and members of various European royal families.<\/p>\n
The 4.7 hectare estate, which can accommodate up to 26 guests in 14 luxury en-suite bedrooms, is being sold as a going concern.<\/p>\n
Amenities include a library, conferencing area, gym, curio shop and swimming pool, along with staff and management housing, a 12-seater game vehicle for heritage tours, a generator room, and borehole for backup water supply.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt combines well-maintained hospitality infrastructure with a heritage setting that is impossible to replicate,\u201d says Norman Raad, CEO of Broll Auctions and Sales.<\/p>\n
