{"id":16229,"date":"2026-09-16T17:47:29","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T17:47:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stock999.top\/?p=16229"},"modified":"2026-09-16T17:47:29","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T17:47:29","slug":"sa-court-confirms-exclusion-of-election-candidates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stock999.top\/?p=16229","title":{"rendered":"SA court confirms exclusion of election candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s Electoral Court upheld the exclusion of some candidates from a local-government vote scheduled for November 4, putting the country\u2019s biggest political party at risk of losing control of several town councils.<\/p>\n<p>More than 142 000 people were nominated to contest 10 526 municipal seats by the time the process closed on August 28. While 2 274 names were captured, they weren\u2019t properly submitted on the Electoral Commission of South Africa\u2019s computer system, rendering them ineligible to run.<\/p>\n<p>The African National Congress blamed the omission of some of its candidates on a technical glitch and filed a lawsuit challenging their exclusion, but the commission said due process wasn\u2019t followed.
