Warren Wheatley has officially resigned as CEO and employee of Africa Bitcoin Corporation Limited (ABC), ending his executive tenure three weeks after being placed on precautionary leave following regulatory enforcement action by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).<\/p>\n
In a statement published on Sens on Tuesday, the board of directors of the JSE Main Board-listed bitcoin treasury group confirmed it had formally accepted Wheatley\u2019s resignation, effective 21 September 2026.<\/p>\n

Stafford Masie, an executive director who stepped in following Wheatley\u2019s initial suspension, will continue serving as interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent successor.<\/p>\n

Wheatley\u2019s departure follows a confidential decision by the FSCA, communicated to the board on 30 August 2026, which issued 20-year debarment orders and administrative penalties totalling R10 million against Wheatley, his wife, Tatum Keshwar-Wheatley (head of media and investor relations), and chief investment officer, Akshay Karan.<\/p>\n
The regulator\u2019s investigation found that between 5 and 8 September 2022, the three individuals engaged in coordinated trading that artificially inflated the share price and created a deceptive appearance of trading activity in Altvest Capital (the entity\u2019s former name) before its main-board migration. The FSCA imposed an administrative penalty of R5 million jointly and severally on Wheatley and his holding entity, WGW Capital.<\/p>\n
Clarifying the regulatory boundary between the former chief executive and the listed business, Africa Bitcoin Corporation reiterated: \u201cMr Wheatley\u2019s reconsideration and related proceedings before the Financial Services Tribunal are personal to him and continue independently of the company.\u201d<\/p>\n

The regulator issued no findings, penalties, or debarment orders against Africa Bitcoin Corporation or any of its subsidiaries.<\/p>\n
Wheatley had previously resigned as a director of the listed group and its subsidiary, Altvest Credit Opportunities Fund, on 31 August 2026 when the debarment orders took effect.<\/p>\n
Reassuring shareholders and secondary trading venues across the A2X, Namibian Securities Exchange (NSX), OTCQB, and Deutsche B\u00f6rse, the board affirmed its priority during the executive transition:<\/p>\n
