Airlink has announced that it will launch twice-daily flights between Cape Town and Lanseria International Airport in Gauteng from 4 December, giving travellers between the two regions an alternative to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n
The move expands Airlink\u2019s domestic network beyond its existing operations through OR Tambo and gives it a presence at Lanseria for the first time.<\/p>\n

An Embraer E190 aircraft with a capacity of 98 passengers will be used. Airlink has confirmed that the aircraft has only window and aisle seats, with no middle seats.<\/p>\n

Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht says: \u201cTravel options on this route have been limited, and our intention is to give passengers a comfortable and enjoyable alternative for travelling between the two regions, while also complementing our existing services to OR Tambo.\u201d<\/p>\n
The service is aimed at passengers travelling to and from Johannesburg, particularly those seeking to avoid congestion at OR Tambo.<\/p>\n
It will also cater to communities and businesses on the western side of Gauteng and in North West province.<\/p>\n
The airline plans to increase the route\u2019s frequency to four daily return flights from 22 March 2027, with an updated schedule to be released closer to the date.<\/p>\n

The increased frequency planned for next year could further broaden the route\u2019s utility for regional travel between the country\u2019s two economic centres.<\/p>\n
