Mike Pettigrew: accelerating our technology strategy<\/p>\n
Offshore logistics company Asco has committed \u00a318.3 million to artificial intelligence capabilities to improve planning, processes and turnaround times.<\/p>\n
The Aberdeen-based group, which has 1,500 staff operating from 70 global locations, is planning the investment over six years.<\/p>\n
As part of the programme, Steve Shearman has joined the group as chief AI officer. His background includes a spell at the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) TechX accelerator project.<\/p>\n
The new investment will focus on the continued development of the firm\u2019s integrated logistics management system, which incorporates its material, cargo, quayside and transport management systems. <\/p>\n
Further development of Asco\u2019s waste management system will enhance environmental reporting, tracking waste type, composition, location and disposal route.<\/p>\n
Asco chief executive Mike Pettigrew said: \u201cThis investment is about accelerating a technology strategy that is already delivering for our clients. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have strong digital platforms, established operational control capability and growing expertise in AI, automation and robotics.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe next step is to connect those capabilities more closely and develop them further, so they support our growth.\u201d<\/p>\n
Group revenue for 2025 came in lower at \u00a3470.4m compared with \u00a3481.1m in the previous year. However, the company made a pre-tax profit of \u00a31.9m, reversing a loss of \u00a31.2m in the prior year.<\/p>\n
