Fourways Mall, widely recognised as the largest in the country, will add Pantry by Marble, tashas and Fournos Bakery as tenants this year to its new restaurant and convenience wing, The View.<\/p>\n
This R100 million redevelopment by co-owners Accelerate Property Fund and entities controlled by Michael Georgiou will open in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Running along Cedar Road, this space had been \u2018sub-optimally\u2019 used, especially given the sweeping views towards the west.<\/p>\n
The space previously occupied by West Pack, as well as various levels above both this area and Food Lover\u2019s Market, will be taken up by a mix of new restaurants and convenience offerings.<\/p>\n
Key is the easy access off Cedar. An hour of free parking, and no charge for parking after 5pm, is being introduced to this space (currently, parking is completely free).<\/p>\n
Two tenants definitely do not \u2018make\u2019 a shopping mall, but both Pantry and tashas are iconic names.<\/p>\n
The absence of tashas, in particular, in this node has been obvious for years, given its proximity to well-heeled neighbourhoods like Lonehill and Dainfern.<\/p>\n
With the exception of Zara, which the new managers of the mall \u2013 Flanagan & Gerard and the Moolman Group \u2013 have tried to secure without success, the centre will now have a near-complete offering of retail and dining options.<\/p>\n

It is likely that Fournos will be relocating its Fourways Crossing store to Fourways Mall, with an opening planned for May. Along with Fournos, tashas and Pantry, the mall will add Nonna\u2019s Italian Kitchen, Liquor Lane, Clay Caf\u00e9, The Piercery, Mangwanani Spa and Popsicle Nails to the wing.<\/p>\n
The last two of these are already trading in the mall and will be relocated. It appears that Mozambik, a restaurant previously slated to open in the space, may no longer do so.<\/p>\n
Pantry by Marble openings<\/p>\n
The opening of the Pantry by Marble premium convenience store trumps the recent announcement by Mall of Africa and Waterfall City developers Attacq, which plans to add a store to the \u2018outside\u2019 of that mall along Karkloof Crescent, the western corner of the centre.<\/p>\n

This means Pantry at The View, set to open in September, will be the fourth outlet, with the Mall of Africa store opening shortly thereafter (before the end of the year).<\/p>\n
The new managers of the mall have steered a stunning turnaround of a flailing retail asset that had been plagued by noticeably high vacancies.<\/p>\n
This appeared to take hold after deliberate letting activity in 2025 saw it enter the peak Black Friday\/festive trading period in a different space entirely.<\/p>\n
The mall, which is actually now navigable after signage upgrades, has been noticeably busier \u2013 both in the peak period as well as on normal weekends.<\/p>\n

Vacancy rates drop<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, the mall reported a vacancy rate (excluding the seemingly aborted, for now, Kidzania project) of 5.4%, which is less than a quarter of where it had been previously.<\/p>\n
In recent months, it has added tenants including ANTA, Birkenstock, Bloc 11, Burnt, Love Matcha, Mangwanani, Nando\u2019s, Old School, Popsicle, RocoMamas, RPM Gym, Shooters, Spur, Urban Playground and Walmart.<\/p>\n

The new managers concluded more than 32\u202f000m\u00b2 of new deals in 2025 (the mall comprises a total of 178 000m\u00b2).<\/p>\n
Both Ster-Kinekor and The Fun Company have been upgraded. Since early 2024, when Flanagan & Gerard was appointed, a total of 60 000m\u00b2 of leases have been renewed at the property.<\/p>\n
Active management<\/p>\n
Adding new tenants helped drive foot count higher (up 20% in December, year-on-year) and its annual turnover increased by 14% in 2025.<\/p>\n
The new managers are actively managing the space for the first time in decades.<\/p>\n

Estoril Books, which has occupied an arguably \u2018awkward\u2019 store in the \u2018leisure\u2019 part of what was the \u2018old\u2019 mall (close to Ster-Kinekor, Bounce, et cetera) is relocating to a spot near Clicks.<\/p>\n
It will surely add another restaurant offering to this wing in the old book shop to improve that offering.<\/p>\n
