Karen Meechan: right moment<\/p>\n
Karen Meechan is stepping down as chief executive of digital technology sector body ScotlandIS.<\/p>\n
After 22 years at the company, Ms Meechan will leave on 29 May, though she will continue to support the board in an advisory capacity. <\/p>\n
To maintain continuity, ScotlandIS\u2019 COO, Nicola Taylor, will be acting CEO from 29 May until a new CEO is appointed.<\/p>\n
Having held the position of CEO since 2021, Ms Meechan has steered ScotlandIS through various economic headwinds. She was previously head of operations and chief operating officer.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cScotlandIS has been my entire career and, without doubt, some of the best years of my life. From the people I\u2019ve had the privilege to work with to our incredible members showcasing Scottish tech to the world, I\u2019ll always look back on my time here with pride.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it feels like the right moment for my next adventure. The organisation has gone from strength to strength in recent years, driven by a fantastic team and hugely supportive board. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m confident that under their watch ScotlandIS will continue to listen closely to the needs of its members and the wider industry, and that the new CEO will keep driving the change our sector deserves. With that, they will have my full support.\u201d<\/p>\n
Andrew Williams, CEO at Apptrix.ai and chair of the ScotlandIS board\u00a0added: \u201cI know I speak for the entirety of ScotlandIS when I say we are very sad to see Karen stepping down. <\/p>\n
