Innis & Gunn was hit by rising costs<\/p>\n
Scottish brewer Innis & Gunn owed creditors almost \u00a320 million when it collapsed into administration, according to new documents.<\/p>\n
The Edinburgh-based company had 200 business creditors when it failed as a result of rising costs that led to the loss of 100 jobs.<\/p>\n
Administrators Christopher Bennett, Oliver Wright and Samuel Ballinger of FTI Consulting were appointed as joint administrators last month.<\/p>\n
They sold Innis & Gunn\u2019s intellectual property and some assets to Irish cider and Tennent\u2019s owner C&C Group for just \u00a34.5 million.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe transaction reflects the best offer received,\u201d they said. The brewery in Perth and the head office in Edinburgh ceased trading, along with three taprooms.<\/p>\n
The administrators\u2019 report said \u00a319.58m was owed to secured and unsecured creditors, including \u00a315.33m to unsecured creditors.<\/p>\n
The group reported losses of \u00a32.368m in 2024 which had narrowed to \u00a3982,000 in 2025.<\/p>\n
Creditors included Majestic Wine Warehouses Ltd which was owed \u00a348,737, the events firm Unique Assembly, owed \u00a327,600, and drinks firms including Bellhaven, which was owed \u00a34,727.<\/p>\n
The Ubiquitous Chip in Ashton Lane in Glasgow was listed as being owed \u00a38,550 and City of Edinburgh Council \u00a33,158.<\/p>\n
The report says: \u201cWe expect there to be a return to the shareholders of Holdco (Innis & Gunn Holdings Limited) as there will likely be a material surplus in the administration estate once dividends have been paid to the unsecured creditors.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, shareholders should note that the surplus funds will be distributed in accordance with the articles of Holdco. As such, only the Class C Ordinary shareholders will receive a dividend.\u201d<\/p>\n
