{"id":7135,"date":"2026-05-25T15:31:34","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T15:31:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stock999.top\/?p=7135"},"modified":"2026-05-25T15:31:34","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T15:31:34","slug":"simon-sinek-every-successful-person-ive-met-hit-zero-before-making-it-and-failure-is-the-gift","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stock999.top\/?p=7135","title":{"rendered":"Simon Sinek: Every successful person I&#8217;ve met &#8216;hit zero&#8217; before making it\u2014and failure is &#8216;the gift&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-1193534743-e1761252406935.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While it may feel as if successful people are leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of us, people who have made major career or business accomplishments have also been in the trenches.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In fact, management guru Simon Sinek said all successful people have hit rock bottom before reaching their pinnacle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have never met a successful person in my life who learned anything when things went well,\u201d Sinek told Chris Williamson on his podcast, Modern Wisdom. \u201cThey learned every lesson they needed to learn that helped them achieve when things went horribly wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sinek is most recognized for his 2009 TED Talk about the concept of \u201cwhy,\u201d and his \u201cGolden Circle\u201d theory, which encourages leaders and organizations to define their core purpose or belief as the basis for inspiring employees and customers. His TED Talk was one of the most-watched of all time with more than 60 million views on the TED website alone. Today, Sinek has amassed nearly 8.9 million followers on LinkedIn.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe most successful people in the world\u2014every single one of them\u2014hit zero or came damn close to it, almost every single time,\u201d he continued. Failure is \u201cthe gift.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What is the relationship between failure and success?<\/p>\n<p>Failure is an essential prerequisite for success, according to a 2019 study by Northwestern University researchers. To prove their point, the researchers analyzed 46 years\u2019 worth of venture-capital startup investments, among other data points.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery winner begins as a loser,\u201d Dashun Wang, professor of management and organizations at Northwestern\u2019s Kellogg School of Management, told Scientific American. Wang, who conceived of and led the study, also serves as the Kellogg chair of technology, among other leadership positions at Northwestern.<\/p>\n<p>Wang emphasized, however, that failure only works in favor of success if you learn from it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to figure out what worked and what didn\u2019t, and then focus on what needs to be improved instead of thrashing around and changing everything,\u201d he said. \u201cThe people who failed didn\u2019t necessarily work less [than those who succeeded]. They could actually have worked more; it\u2019s just that they made more unnecessary changes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the most famous examples of a major business leader succeeding from failure was Apple\u2019s visionary cofounder Steve Jobs. In 1985, Apple\u2019s board voted to remove Jobs from his post. But in a 2005 commencement address to the graduating class of Stanford University, Jobs admitted his fear of death ultimately drove his decisions in life and allowed him to overcome fear of failure.
