Moneyweb \u2013 a leading destination for business, finance and investment news in South Africa \u2013 is looking to appoint a Senior Financial Journalist to join its dynamic editorial team. A wholly owned subsidiary of AME, Moneyweb produces independent, high-quality investment news across digital, audio, print, newsletters and events.<\/p>\n
This is a senior-level position reporting to Moneyweb\u2019s editors. The successful candidate must have a strong news sense, a proven ability to identify and develop compelling stories, an excellent work ethic, and the initiative to generate original content and ideas.<\/p>\n
The key purpose of the role<\/p>\n
We are looking for a journalist with a track record of outstanding business reporting and analysis.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the South African business environment and its global context, as well as a solid grasp of economics, investing, and JSE-listed companies.<\/p>\n

Key responsibilities include:<\/p>\n
Producing well-written, relevant, accurate and balanced business and investment news.
\nIdentifying and developing exclusive stories and original content ideas.
\nConducting interviews and building relationships with key industry stakeholders.
\nAnalysing financial statements, company results and market developments.
\nWorking across digital, audio and other multimedia platforms.
\nManaging multiple deadlines and assignments simultaneously.
\nContributing to editorial planning and newsroom discussions.
\nPerforming any other duties reasonably assigned by the editors.<\/p>\n
Personal attributes <\/p>\n
The ability to multitask, prioritise and pay very close attention to detail is vital.
\nMust be a team player and hard-working, with the ability to work independently.
\nBe able to work overtime when needed.<\/p>\n
Minimum requirements<\/p>\n
Relevant diploma or degree in finance, economics, journalism or a related field.
\nFive to seven years\u2019 experience in financial journalism.
\nA strong understanding of the financial media sector.
\nAbility to read and analyse financial statements and other financial information.
\nExcellent communication, writing and editing skills.
\nThorough understanding of the South African Press Code.
\nStrong news judgement and interviewing skills.
\nAbility to work independently and under pressure.
\nAn existing network of industry contacts.
\nWillingness to work flexible hours when required.
\nContactable references.<\/p>\n
This is a multimedia journalism role that requires a proactive, strategic mindset. Podcasting and broadcast experience will be advantageous. The salary is negotiable. Applicants must have their own transport.<\/p>\n
