Our guest is one of SA\u2019s top economists, Goolam Ballim, who is the chief economist at Standard Bank Group (SBG) \u2013 Africa\u2019s biggest bank by assets.<\/p>\n
We asked him about the conflict in the Middle East and its impact on SA, especially with the spiralling oil price and increased volatility in the markets. This has effectively taken interest rates cuts, touted by SBG and other banks at the start of the year, off the table.<\/p>\n
