Tech Terrace campus aims to boost innovation – Daily Business

New campus units

A new tech campus backed by public and private funding aims to build a cluster of early stage innovative companies.

Scottish Enterprise has approved a £4.74m package to deliver the development at the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS) in Renfrewshire.

The funding will be matched by the AMIDS joint venture partners Renfrewshire Council and Buccleuch Property.

Tech Terrace, aims to establish a high-value manufacturing cluster within a campus environment with units ranging from 2,000 sq. ft up to 16,000 sq. ft over a total area of 30,000 sq ft.

AMIDS also offers bespoke design and build opportunities with planning permission in principle in place for up to 750,000 sq. ft of floorspace for high value advanced manufacturing.

Business Minister Richard Lochhead said: “It is important we continue to provide the right support and conditions that help drive the phenomenal developments taking place across the country’s high-growth, high-innovation industries in order to maximise their economic potential.

“The Tech Terrace is an excellent example of how the Scottish Government and our enterprise agencies are supporting deliver this potential.”

Jane Martin, Scottish Enterprise managing director of innovation and investment, added: “High value manufacturing is a hugely important sector.”

A planning application is due to be submitted for construction to begin later this year.
