Sephora preparing to open in St James

Beauty retailer Sephora will inject some confidence into the Scottish retail sector by opening its first stores in north of the border.

The outlets in Edinburgh’ St James Quarter and Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre come three years after it opened its first UK branch in London. Each of the Scottish stores occupy about about 5,000 sq ft.

Sephora was established in Limoges, France in 1969, and has since grown to a global network of more than 3,200 physical stores, along with e-commerce and digital platforms.

St James Quarter estate director Anne Ledgerwood described the opening of a Sephora store in the capital as a “major moment” the venue and for Edinburgh’s shopping scene.

Silverburn general manager David Pierotti said: “Sephora coming to Glasgow marks such a big moment for the city and the west of Scotland and we are so pleased to be home to its largest store in the country.
