The key purpose of the role

To select, curate and prepare Moneyweb content for the CitiBusiness newspaper pages, ensuring stories are edited and adapted to meet page requirements while delivering clear, engaging and relevant business news for CitiBusiness readers.

Select and collate appropriate content from Moneyweb for the CitiBusiness pages.
Ensure selected stories suit the CitiBusiness readership and align with the publication’s editorial tone and focus.
Edit and cut, copy where necessary to meet page length and layout requirements.
Write and refine headlines that work effectively within newspaper style and space constraints.
Work closely with the editorial and production teams to ensure pages are completed accurately and on deadline.
Ensure copy is clean, clear and publication-ready for print.
Remain flexible and responsive as editorial priorities or page requirements change, which is common in a fast-moving newsroom environment.
Assist in ensuring the final pages are balanced, engaging and representative of the day’s key business news.

Personal attributes and requirements

The ability to multitask, prioritise and pay very close attention to detail is vital.
Must be a team player and hard-working, with the ability to work independently.
Be able to work overtime when needed.

Requirements

At least two years’ sub-editing and writing experience.
At least two years’ experience in print media.
Experience in financial journalism.
Exemplify exceptional detail orientation.
Excellent command of the English language.
Be a dedicated team player.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organisational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.
Good time management skills and be deadline oriented.
