Moneyweb’s Property Pod wins top Sapoa media award

The Property Pod, hosted by Suren Naidoo for Moneyweb, was named Digital Broadcast and Media of the Year at the South African Property Owners Association (Sapoa) Journalism Awards for Excellence.

The award was presented on 1 October 2026 at the Sapoa gala dinner on the final day of the association’s annual convention at Sun City.

Recognising multimedia industry excellence

Officially launched in 2021, The Property Pod has established itself as a regular feature on Moneyweb. Host Suren Naidoo regularly interviews high-profile CEOs, developers, analysts, and institutional leaders shaping the South African and international real estate markets.

The Digital Broadcast and Media category includes vlogs, podcasts, blogs, dedicated radio shows, and television segments, recognising engaging, informative content that communicates property-related issues across multimedia formats.

Contenders in the category were assessed against six criteria:

Accuracy and relevance: Depth and accuracy in addressing significant property-related issues for the intended audience.
Accessibility: Ability to present complex real estate topics in an engaging, accessible format.
Storytelling and innovation: Innovative use of format, interviewing, and production to convey fresh insights.
Technical quality: Audio and visual clarity, editing, and overall presentation.
Audience engagement: Influence on public discourse and industry understanding.
Platform integration: Effective integration of digital tools to enhance the user experience.

Competitive field

The winner was selected from a field of nominees that included media professionals Alistair Anderson, Ashley Muller and Noxolo Majavu of Business Day.

Noxolo Majavu and Ash Muller were named the two runners-up in the category.
