The Delaporte, a new chapter in boutique hotel living in Cape Town

5 min read

As Cape Town continues to draw residents, visitors and investors towards its vibrant city centre, one of the city’s most sought-after streets is entering a new chapter.

On Loop Street, a heritage building is being reimagined as The Delaporte – a boutique hotel bringing together individually owned residences, considered hospitality and a professionally managed hotel operation.

At 153 Loop Street, The Delaporte reimagines a heritage building as a contemporary boutique hotel, retaining the character of its original architecture while introducing a new layer of hospitality to one of Cape Town’s most established addresses.

Comprising 43 individually owned sectional-title studios and design suites, priced from R1.895 million Vat-inclusive, The Delaporte offers purchasers the opportunity to own within a boutique hotel, with the option to participate in its professionally managed rental pool or use their residence privately.

The building has been reimagined around the experience of a boutique hotel, with a dedicated lobby, ground-floor restaurant, rooftop pool and sauna, terrace and fitness studio forming a considered collection of spaces for owners and guests.

A city address with Cape Town at its doorstep

Loop Street occupies a distinctive position within Cape Town’s city centre – close enough to the energy of Bree Street, Long Street and Kloof Street, while offering its own quieter rhythm of galleries, restaurants, design stores, coffee shops and hospitality destinations.

The street itself is becoming an increasingly important part of the city’s pedestrian network, with the City of Cape Town’s CBD Mobility and Access Plan identifying Loop, Long and Bree Streets as key activity streets within a more connected, walkable central-city environment, supported by the Central City Improvement District (CCID) and continued public and private investment in the surrounding precinct.

This connected setting places The Delaporte within easy reach of some of Cape Town’s most established lifestyle destinations.

Kloof Street is approximately five minutes away on foot, while the V&A Waterfront is around eight minutes by car and Camps Bay approximately 15 minutes via Kloof Nek.

With much of the city’s cultural, culinary and social life accessible on foot, The Delaporte places owners and guests at the centre of Cape Town’s everyday rhythm, with the city extending naturally in every direction.

Heritage building reimagined for hotel living

The Delaporte retains the character of its original heritage architecture while introducing a contemporary architectural addition and a refined interior language shaped by the details and materiality of exceptional hotels.

Within the residences, generous proportions, integrated joinery and a considered palette of honed Rustenburg stone, warm oak, brushed chrome, satin nickel, fluted glass and textured finishes create spaces designed to feel both contemporary and enduring.

Beyond the residences, the hotel experience continues through a dedicated arrival lobby, ground-floor restaurant and rooftop spaces overlooking the city, with a pool, sauna and terrace complemented by a dedicated fitness studio.

The thinking extends into the operation itself. The hotel’s approach is centred on the belief that exceptional hospitality is found in the details – from the way a guest is welcomed to the way spaces are maintained and the small touches that shape the experience of a stay.

The intention is to create a boutique hotel with a distinct sense of personality and service, where every element has been considered to make the experience feel thoughtful, comfortable and complete.

A hotel designed for ownership

At the heart of The Delaporte is an ownership model that brings the experience of the hotel and the opportunity of property investment together.

Owners who choose to participate in The Delaporte Rental Pool will receive a guaranteed 9% net rental yield for the first year, subject to the terms of the Rental Pool agreement. Thereafter, rental income will be distributed in accordance with the Rental Pool structure and the ongoing performance of the hotel.

The Rental Pool is designed to make hotel ownership as considered as the experience itself, with reservations, guest services, housekeeping, maintenance and revenue management managed as part of the hotel’s operation. Owners can therefore participate in the hospitality offering without taking on the demands of managing an individual short-term rental.

There is also room for ownership to be personal. Residences can be used privately or placed on a long-term rental, while owners participating in the Rental Pool may make use of their residence for up to 28 nights per calendar year, subject to the applicable agreement.

It is an approach that gives ownership a sense of ease and flexibility, while allowing the hotel to remain focused on creating a considered experience for every guest who passes through its doors.

An investment with added tax advantages

The investment proposition is further supported by potential tax benefits for qualifying purchasers.

As a property within Cape Town’s Urban Development Zone (UDZ), qualifying investors may be able to claim an income tax allowance on a portion of the residence’s qualifying cost over an 11-year period.

Alternatively, qualifying portfolio investors may be eligible for the Section 13sex allowance, providing a potential annual deduction of 5% of qualifying costs where the relevant requirements are met.

Residences are sold Vat-inclusive with no transfer duty payable, while qualifying Vat-registered purchasers may also be able to claim input Vat where the residence is operated as part of the hotel, subject to the applicable requirements.

A new chapter for 153 Loop Street

The Delaporte brings together the elements that are increasingly defining Cape Town’s next generation of city-centre property – a walkable location, renewed investment in the urban environment, heritage architecture and a hospitality offering designed around how people want to experience the city.

For guests, it offers a boutique hotel in the heart of Cape Town, within easy reach of the restaurants, galleries, cultural destinations and neighbourhoods that define the city.

For owners, it offers an individually owned residence within a professionally operated hotel, with the flexibility to participate in the Rental Pool, use the residence privately or pursue a long-term rental.

And for investors, it brings together a guaranteed 9% net rental yield in the first year, professional hotel management and potential tax advantages within a heritage address in one of Cape Town’s most actively evolving urban corridors.

The Delaporte is not about changing the character of Loop Street, but becoming part of its next chapter – bringing new life to a historic building while contributing to the continued evolution of Cape Town’s city centre.

Sales for The Delaporte officially go live on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at 12pm, with residences priced from R1.895 million Vat-inclusive.

The development has been brought to market and is being sold by Revo, with the go-to-market strategy led by Revo Digital and purchasers able to reserve their residence online through Connect, Revo’s interactive real-time sales platform. Sales are managed exclusively by Revo Property.
