BGF has invested several millions to take a minority stake in Edinburgh engineering consultancy Harley Haddow.
The partnership will support the company’s next phase of growth both organically and through acquisition following the opening of three offices in England over the last four years.
The company has promoted director Marc McLuskey to chief executive while experienced scaleup adviser Charles Layfield will join as non-executive chair through BGF’s Talent Network. Mr Layfield has executed more than 30 acquisitions during his career.
With a portfolio spanning the public and private sectors, Harley Haddow’s cultural and heritage projects include the BAFTA HQ and V&A in London, SWG3 in Glasgow, and ongoing involvement in the renovation of the glasshouses at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, as well as the redevelopment of Port Hamilton for Lloyds Banking Group.
It has also expanded its service offering through the acquisition of specialist consultancy Pillar Fire, and grown its team to nearly 200.
Mr McLuskey said: “BGF’s minority investment model will allow us to accelerate our growth ambitions while ensuring Harley Haddow remains independently managed, with our existing leadership team, culture and values firmly in place.”
John Devine, an investor at BGF, said: “Harley Haddow combines 75 years of engineering expertise with the ambition and momentum of a high-growth business. The team has built a strong national platform whilst maintaining the culture, technical quality and client relationships that differentiate the business.”
