Now, we’ve got a CEO of a private business, an entrepreneur, a family-business owner and an industrial property mogul on the show who I have been trying to get on the podcast for years. I met him around 2011, when I did a story about the first warehouses developed at Dube TradePort, next to King Shaka International Airport.

His name is Pran Shree, and he is the founder and CEO of Shree Property Holdings, which has grown into one of the largest privately owned logistics and industrial real estate groups in KZN and SA.

He started as a young entrepreneur in the butchery business in the 1980s. Then he got into citrus export warehousing on strategic land near the Port of Durban – South Africa’s busiest container terminal.

That kicked off his foray into industrial and logistics property in the early 2000s, and today Shree Property Holdings has dozens of properties around the port and is the largest property investor in Dube TradePort.

As part of its expansion plans, it announced more than R2 billion in new investment in KZN last month, including two major logistics warehouses in South Durban and a new development in Shakaskraal on the KZN North Coast.
