Why we love this deal
I haven’t upgraded my phone in a few years, and while it works just fine, you can definitely tell its age by the battery life. If I use GPS for a drive, the battery will be drained by about halfway through the day, so I always have to have a charger with me. It’s a bit of a nuisance, and I often find myself thinking I should probably upgrade soon.
If you’re in a similar spot, you might find that the Anker Smart Display 45-Watt Charger can help get your phone back to a full battery quickly. I’ve had my eye on this charger for a while, as it has some unusual features. Now that it’s $12 off at Amazon during the Big Spring Sale, I think it might be time for me to invest. The only catch is that its detailed display is only compatible with iOS devices, but it will still charge other devices.

This smart charger is a new product from Anker, and it appears to be both fun and functional. The little happy face on the screen reminded me of my travels in Japan, where so much of the technology you see has something cute added. When you plug in your phone, laptop, or tablet, the charger recognizes the model and optimizes the charging process with the goal of extending the battery’s lifespan. This is a real plus, as it’s easy to exhaust your battery sooner by not letting it fully deplete before you charge your devices.
By tapping the charger, you can use one of two modes: the Auto mode that works as I explained above, and the Care mode. The latter mode is designed for nighttime use and stays 36% cooler, while it keeps the phone’s battery nine degrees cooler. A hotter battery can wear down faster, so this charger can extend its life thanks to this feature.
Another nice feature is the charger’s folding prongs, which fold to both 90 degrees and 180 degrees for convenience and make it easy to use outlets at any angle. It also comes in four colors, with the white and black available for $28 and the blue and orange for $29.

“When this product was first announced and reviewed on tech websites, the screen seemed like a gimmick,” one shopper wrote. “But now that I have the charger, I really like the screen. It displays useful information, like how much power it’s delivering to my devices in real time.”
“It will put out 45 watts for a decent amount of time,” a second shopper wrote. “I haven’t torture-tested it yet, but after 30 minutes, it was still pumping out 45 watts continuously to one of my power banks. It even powers my Lenovo X1 Carbon quite well.”
