Another airline shuts down for summer, cancels all flights
3 min readWith any attempts at peace talks over Iran now fallen through multiple times, the war has created a major crisis for airlines both when it comes to the cost of jet fuel and the safety of certain routes.
While local airlines such as Emirates and Etihad have been running some flights into and out of Dubai, major international carriers have canceled all service into the United Arab Emirates and several nearby countries throughout the summer as the ripple effects of the war set off by the U.S.-Israeli strike last February continue across the Middle Eastern region.
Delta, United, Air Canada, British Airways, Air France and KLM are among the major airlines that are currently not flying into Dubai over ongoing security concerns.
BeOnd flights to The Maldives canceled until October 2026
Established in 2022 as an airline with an Airbus A319 configured to have all-business seats, Malé-based BeOnd had lofty plans of growing into the main airline for travelers looking to go to The Maldives.
The airline had been running flights to the capital of the nation in the Indian Ocean associated with extreme luxury from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt as well as European cities such as Milan and Zürich. Prior to the current situation, BeOnd was also preparing to launch flights from London Heathrow and Paris by December 2026 while also eying the first direct service to The Maldives from the U.S. at some point after.

But as now being seen through the airline’s booking availability and Cirium flight data, BeOnd has canceled all of its service for the summer. While the airline had initially canceled only longer routes that did a stopover in Dubai as the nearest major hub, falling traveler numbers to the entire region are what likely led to a full grounding of the fleet in the hopes of restarting in October 2026.
Often associated with pristine beaches and extreme luxury, The Maldives has seen a severe dropoff in tourism numbers over the situation in the Middle East.

BeOnd promises customers with canceled flights “flexible rebooking options or a full refund”
“If you’re booked to travel with us this summer, our guest experience team will be in touch within the next 72 hours with with flexible rebooking options including fee-free moves to winter, future travel within 12 months or a full refund,” the airline wrote in a social media post on Apr. 18.
The last flight from Zürich to Velana International (MLE) in Malé is scheduled to run on May 1. The airline’s booking platform and Cirium flight data currently show staggered resumptions in service from cities such as Dubai, Milan and Zürich and London, Paris and Moscow in November.

Given the volatile situation in the Middle East and what has over the last month emerged as a major lack of progress on peace talks, any route planning that far in advance is subject to significant uncertainty.
BeOnd has a fleet of just two planes, an Airbus A319and A321, which also places major limitations on its ability to redirect service to other other destinations or launch new routes if the ones it initially scheduled cannot be flown.
