Award-winning toy and game company files Chapter 11 bankruptcy
3 min readThe toy and game industry has struggled financially since early 2025 as manufacturers and retailers have filed for bankruptcy, and in some cases, ceased operations.
One of the latest toy and game companies seeking reorganization this year is OuiSi incorporated.
Another company, Diamond Comic Distributors, a leading distributor of comics, graphic novels, toys, games, and other pop culture-related merchandise, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last year on Jan. 14, 2025, along with three affiliates seeking a sale of their assets after losing exclusive distribution agreements with comic book publishers DC Entertainment, Marvel Worldwide, and Image Comics.
Comic and toy company liquidated
The debtor’s bankruptcy case went from bad to devastating, as Diamond Comic Distributors converted its case to Chapter 7 liquidation by December 2025.
The biggest shock to the toy industry in the last 10 years was the Toys R Us bankruptcy filing in September 2017, which resulted in the company liquidating and closing all U.S. locations in 2018.
Toys R Us Canada continued operations in Canada, but the company had economic issues similar to the U.S. company.
The Canadian toy store chain, which operates 22 stores, filed for creditor protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act in Canada on Feb. 3, 2026, to restructure debt and reduce its retail footprint.

OuiSi Incorporated files for bankruptcy
And now, award-winning toy and game company OuiSi Incorporated has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to PacerMonitor, seeking to restructure its debt.
The Stone Ridge, N.Y.-based debtor filed its Subchapter V petition, No. 26-35436, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York on April 24, listing $50,000 to $100,000 in assets and $1 million to $10 million in liabilities, including over $1.6 million in unsecured claims, according to RK Consultants.
Debtor’s largest unsecured creditors
OuiSi’s largest unsecured creditors include Meta Platforms, owed over $869,000; Panda Game Manufacturing Ltd., owed over $367,000; Divvy, owed over $98,000; UK VAT, owed over $58,000; and the J. Paul Getty Trust, owed over $21,000, according to court papers.
The toy and game manufacturer has won several awards for its products, including 2022 and 2024 National Parenting Product Awards Winner, Creative Child Magazine’s 2024 Creative Child Awards Game of the Year Award and 2024 Creative Play of the Year Award, according to its website.
The company also won the Tillywig Toy Awards Brain Child Award and the Tillywig Toy Awards Best Creative Fun Award.

The company’s other product consists of OuiSi Nature, consisting of 210 connecting photo cards with games and activities to foster creativity, and ignite natural wonder.
The games consist of the 210 cards and a guidebook with 12 games. To play the games, OuiSi Photo Cards “Visually Connect” based on shared patterns, shapes and colors. Each photo card has 10-20 matches, meaning 1,000s of Visual Connections in a box.
OuiSi offers creative brain games that engage all ages with accessible and clever game play that inspires imaginations through visual discovery and noticing, according to the company website.
The games also spur easy conversation and curiosity about how other players see things, one photo card at a time.
