Talo platform aims to disrupt healthcare process – Daily Business

Mission: David Massie (l) and Gavin Bell

Two Scottish brothers-in-law have launched a UK-wide online healthcare business promising a fast delivery option to traditional GP-pharmacy services.

Entrepreneur Gavin Bell and pharmacist David Massie have teamed up to establish Talo, which will offer discreet, next-day delivery of treatments.

Glasgow-headquartered Talo has partnered with Eastwood Pharmacy, an established GPhC-registered Scottish community pharmacy group, which handles all clinical and dispensing services.

The initial focus will be on male health issues, with expansion plans already in motion to build towards a broader platform.

All medicines are sourced through regulated UK pharmacy supply chains and checked by pharmacists.

The whole process is handled online with no video or phone calls, with the digital-only solution underpinned by an audit trail.

Mr Bell, who sold his Edinburgh-based performance marketing agency Yatter in 2024, said: “When I was exiting Yatter, I started looking at industries where the customer experience hasn’t caught up with modern life.

“Healthcare jumped out straight away. If someone wants a prescription today, they’re still calling at 8am hoping for an appointment, then going to the GP, then heading to a pharmacy. Before they know it, half the day has gone. It’s an experience that hasn’t modernised.

“Being someone technology-minded, I got motivated to come up with a solution and reached out to my brother-in-law, who runs a number of community pharmacies, and explained that we needed to look at creating an online service.

“It only took a few conversations and we agreed that combining our skillsets to create a more modern and customer-focused service was the way forward.

“In short, we’re looking to disrupt the traditional GP-to-pharmacy-to-treatment journey by making it quick, easy and enjoyable online.

“Our initial mission is to provide men with a safe space to get the treatments they need in a fast, easy, simple way, without any judgment or stigma, allowing them to live their life more confidently.”

Mr Massie, who runs six NHS community pharmacies throughout Scotland having set up Eastwood Pharmacy in Glasgow in 2013, is the Clinical Lead at Talo and said: “We believe quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone.

“Far too many patients are waiting too long for an appointment with their GP, fuelling demand for faster, private options.”
