Glasgow Fort, the shopping park on the city’s eastern fringe, is planning a 60,000 sq ft expansion which will see the Marks & Spencer store become the biggest in the country.
M&S would increase its store by more than 32,000 sq ft and able to offer customers a wider range of products.
Glasgow Fort would also enhance its leisure offering, with bowling, arcades, and a range of other attractions.
The application follows two public consultations, which were held last year and build on a period of strong performance at the centre.
Phil Goodman, centre director at Glasgow Fort, said: “We know people are looking for more choice and more to do when they visit us, and these plans are about creating a better overall experience for our visitors.
“A bigger M&S would mean an improved range and easier shopping, while the new leisure options would give people even more ways to enjoy their time here – whether that’s a shopping trip, a meal out or a fun day with family and friends.”
In 2025, Glasgow Fort recorded its highest-ever visitor numbers, with footfall increasing by 8% in the last 12 months.
Rachel Rankine, regional manager, M&S, added: “We’re excited about the opportunity to significantly expand our Glasgow Fort store and create a standout M&S destination for our customers in Scotland.
“If approved, this extension would allow us to showcase a bigger range of our delicious, trusted value Food and great quality Fashion, Home and Beauty products.
“Glasgow Fort is an important location for us, and these plans will help us deliver a modern, spacious and enjoyable shopping experience for our customers.”
