Peter Murrell: due in court
Former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell will appear at the High Court in Edinburgh today to face charges of embezzling party funds.
Murrell is accused of obtaining more than £459,000 between August 2010 and January 2023.
He will attend court for a preliminary hearing which had been scheduled to take place in Glasgow in February.
The 61-year-old, who is former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s estranged husband, is alleged to have used the money to buy items including a motorhome and a series of luxury goods.
He was arrested in April 2023 as part of the Operation Branchform police investigation into the SNP’s finances, and was charged in April 2024.
He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in March 2025 where he faced a charge of embezzlement, making no plea.
