Business leaders today are navigating constant disruption from geopolitical shifts, technological change, and economic uncertainty. In this environment, success is no longer just about experience – it’s about the ability to make sense of complexity and take informed, strategic action.

Many senior executives are now asking how they can move beyond generalist thinking and develop the depth needed to lead effectively in a complex world.

The Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) has developed a portfolio of research-led Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Business Management programmes, designed specifically for experienced professionals looking to deepen their strategic judgement, strengthen their analytical capabilities, and lead with greater clarity in uncertain environments.

In this webinar, hosted by Moneyweb’s Jeremy Maggs, Dr Jill Bogie, Prof Nicola Kleyn, Dr Dots Ndletyana, and Prof Albert Wöcke will explore how each of GIBS’s four MPhil programmes develops distinct strategic and leadership capabilities.

The programmes equip senior managers and executives to make stronger decisions in complex environments across both the private and public sectors, including large national and multinational organisations as well as state-owned enterprises.

Importantly, the session will help prospective students identify which MPhil best aligns with their context and career goals.

There will also be plenty of time for questions at the end of the session, allowing attendees to engage directly and gain clarity on which programme will best support their next steps.

The session will cover:

The key differences between the four MPhil programmes and how each is designed for a specific leadership and strategy focus:

Corporate Strategy (Navigating long‑term strategic complexity);
International Business (global and cross-border strategy);
Change Leadership (Human-centred leadership for driving organisational change); and
Leading in New Economies (Sensing and sense-making. Strategic foresight for the macro environment).

How research-led learning enables senior managers and executives to move beyond binary thinking and make better decisions using multiple perspectives.
Real-world examples of the complex decisions senior managers and executives face – and how structured research improves outcomes.
How participants evolve during the programme, gaining deeper insight, broader perspectives, and stronger strategic confidence.
The value of learning alongside a network of experienced executives across industries.

This webinar will take place on 2 April at 2pm.
