Welcome to The Property Pod, South Africa’s leading property investor podcast right here on Moneyweb. On this weekly show, we gain insider insights from leading executives, analysts, developers and entrepreneurs in the country’s dynamic property industry.
We are continuing our focus on tourism, hotels and leisure property on this week’s podcast, following Africa’s Travel Indaba last week in Durban, where we spoke to Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille.
Our guest on this week’s show is Malcolm Horne, the CEO of property services and corporate real estate advisory giant Broll Property Group.

We last spoke to Horne on The Property Pod in 2021, about the back-to-the-office debate, following the Covid-19 lockdowns and the debates around working from home.
That was quite an interesting discussion and was sponsored. But this is not a sponsored podcast.

A lot has happened in the company and the broader property industry since then, but the reason I am speaking to Horne now is because of recent developments with some big head-hunting moves from the company in the hotel advisory space.
He tells us about this on the episode, with the launch of Broll Hospitality and weighs in on hotel development prospects in Africa that seem to be on the up.
He also shares why the group is expanding into the Middle East with a new office in the Gulf hub of Dubai. This comes despite the conflict between the US and Iran, which has hit economies in states like the UAE.
