Jobs have been saved at Scotland’s biggest animation content provider after it was acquired by its major customer.
Wild Child Animation, the Stirling-based studio and contractor, has been sold to Magic Light Pictures’ wholly-owned Stirling Animation Studio via a pre-pack administration process.
The deal saves 30 staff jobs. The company, which had a turnover in 2025 of £5.7 million, also works with about 50 contractors.
Since 2020, Wild Child Animation has created hours of content for leading partners such as Cartoon Network, Hanna-Barbera, Warner Bros., BBC, and Sky.
Magic Light Pictures is an Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning creator of family entertainment and producer behind Zog, a series based on the much-loved picture book.
It stepped in to complete the production and keep the team together during the administration process.
Martin Pope and Michael Rose, Joint CEOs, at Magic Light Pictures, said: “We’ve acted quickly to protect something valuable – a brilliant team, a major production, and a key part of Scotland’s animation capability.
“It’s been important to provide stability and renewed confidence for the crew at a critical time. The formation of Stirling Animation Studio will ensure completion of our Zog series, and we hope it can also be a platform for future productions.
“We are already exploring ideas about the future so we can support the next generation of world-class animation talent in Scotland.”
The transaction was handled by Gordon McIntyre and Donald McKinnon of Wbg who were called in last month to seek a buyer.
